Ammerud

Transitions is a project that aims to connect the urban with the nature, and in this way create relationships across groups that –  without this meeting point – might never have met in the same place to share the same experiences.

The community center is located on a plot north of the Ammerud area , in the Grorud district. The plot is today one of two parking lots just within the field boundary between the car road and the forest, and is at the crossroad between nature and man-made infrastructure. In the immediate vicinity is Lillomarka Arena, which is a year-round sports and activity facility mainly intended for sports that include all skill levels. It covers an area of ​​almost 86 acres and consists of trails, climbing wall and an artificial turf pitch for football. Badedammen and Steinbruvannet are popular recreational areas and are located close to Lillomarka Arena and the new community center.

Transitions is about the transitions, but also about connections: from outside to inside, from room to room, from one atmosphere to another, from one culture to another. The project wants to give people of different backgrounds a place to meet. To bring this intention to life, I have chosen to create a space that combines interactions and social connections, with the more comfortable and relaxed side of the Norwegian outdoor culture.
